A Book Donation Can Go a Long Way in Helping Kidney Disease Awareness Programs throughout Ohio

Book Donation ColumbusDid you ever think that a book donation in Columbus could help someone with kidney disease learn about dialysis treatment? Or that giving away all those old paperback novels could actually help someone decide to be a kidney donor? National Kidney Services (NKS) is a local charity devoted to collecting your donations of used clothes and household items, including books, in an effort to support the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).

NKF is a nonprofit health organization that has the Wise Giving Alliance Charity Seal from the Better Business Bureau and a Four Star rating from Charity Navigator, one of the nation’s premier charity evaluators. A used book donation to NKS can help NKF establish programs for:

  • Public awareness about chronic kidney disease, kidney health, and the importance of early detection
  • Free screenings for at-risk individuals, including Kidney Health Risk Assessments and KEEP® (Kidney Early Evaluation Program)
  • Continuing education resources for healthcare practitioners who diagnose and treat kidney disease
  • Educating people about the need for organ donors with a program called “END THE WAIT!” and the U.S. Transplant Games

To donate to NKS, simply call 614-351-2900 or sign up online to add your name to our regular donation call list and a representative will contact you when pickups are being made in your area. If you would prefer to drop off your donations of clothing and household items, feel free to bring them to any Ohio Thrift location in Columbus, Grove City, Whitehall, or Washington Court House. We have partnered with these stores to accept donations on our behalf, so you can obtain a receipt for your tax-deductible* contributions at any location. Feel free to contact us and learn more about why NKS should be at the top of your list of charities.
